Each individual is given the freedom of choice. To be free to believe in whatever you want. It may be socially accepted or not. The world has many combinations of cultures with all different kinds of beliefs. One freedom of choice that was given is religion. Religion gives people the cause or purpose of the universe. Which leads to my topic in why people believe in things that cannot be proven? I personally think religions are a good example of what cannot be proven but majority of the people still do.
There are many kinds of beliefs which may involve Christianity, Buddhism, Islam's, Hinduism and many more. One thing that most religions have in common is they all have a god. As we all know god hasn't been scientifically proven, but yet so many people believe in him. Our society is given rules. Were not completely free to do whatever we want. There has to be a limit to people and their actions. We can't let people run around killing each other. I think we have a choice to be good and bad. This leads us to believing there is a god. So we have a reason to be good. God is a good example. Something, or someone to look forward to give reason to do well in life. If people don't have that belief I think there would be a lot of chaos. There would be no purpose in life in one's personal view.
For example, the reason I believe in god is that it gives me a peace of mind. I mean if I don't believe in the good then that leaves me in a negative state of mind. I like to think that married couples respect their spouse. That not all husband and wives are not cheating on each other. That people generally have a good heart. All these things are not necessarily true, but I like to think it. I like to think positive about rules and responsibility because if I don't then I personally think I would go crazy. I don't find killing, doing drugs ok, but I like to think people make mistakes. I also like to think I have a soul. That gives me as a person worthy of living. I think of it as a gift from god. Making the best of what I have and turning it into something important to me personally. That there's a reason good we were set on this earth. All this is what I believe in. But yet I have doubt in a god. I believe in science too. There are days that I don't believe in god and I think to myself that science is a good explanation, but then again nothing is proven!
Wouldn't you want to have a reason to be good? God falls under the supernatural category. Whether we believe it or not, we haven't proven that god is real. We believe that god is a greater force than anything in the world. This is hard to explain. There are many people think that god should be taught in our schools, because if you think about it, it isn't bad to be given something positive to believe in. But then again we all don't think the same.
Their trying to prove that god has nothing to do about and that we should believe in science. For example Gregory Mendal made series of experiments the main one he is known for is experimenting on the peas. How these peas evolved. All this give the doubt of god in how he may not even exist Charles Darwin believe in how we evolved. This opens the topic of Evolution. Another belief of how god may not even exist. This hasn't been proven but gives the doubt of mind. There's also a belief how our spirit are a ball of energy and how we have mind power. This is all scientifically thought.
Point being in all of this that humans believe in what cannot be proven because for some give them peace. Even though they have series of information laid out in front of them how what they believe in may be even true. They block it all out of their minds to continue believing in what they want. Whether it is right or it is wrong. It self fulfillment. People believe in what they want. Could be many reasons as to why they believe in.
