Thousand Words

First, after thinking out the question is a picture worth a thousand words. I decided to look through the internet, magazines, and personal family pictures. Came to the conclusion that yes, picture can be worth a thousand words. I mean the pictures that were taken for some special purpose. Maybe, to hold on to the memory or special event that is in motion.

In my opinion a picture is worth a thousand words because it's an irreplaceable memory. Not only that maybe when someone is trying to explain it better without even putting it in words. We often understand visually of what is going on. A picture can hold a memorable event that you share with someone. I'm not saying everyone can see the same thing in a certain pictures. Sometimes people see different things. For example a family photo can mean something different than a person from outside circle like a stranger. They may not understand what is going on. Or a picture taken for a bigger audience can be meant for a different purpose.

Mainly in advertising a poster for example that has a person dying of cancer from smoking can be pretty self explanatory. You don't need words to explain what is going on. Maybe even a painting can explain how the person may be feeling or felt at the time.

Many people don't think a picture says a thousand words, they sometimes see absolutely nothing. They don't get what the picture is trying to say. Need to explain by the person that took the picture, or text that comes with it.

Everybody understands or see things differently like a picture. Or how they take things in. Sometimes people need to visually see what happen like in a book.

Freedom of Choice

Each individual is given the freedom of choice. To be free to believe in whatever you want. It may be socially accepted or not. The world has many combinations of cultures with all different kinds of beliefs. One freedom of choice that was given is religion. Religion gives people the cause or purpose of the universe. Which leads to my topic in why people believe in things that cannot be proven? I personally think religions are a good example of what cannot be proven but majority of the people still do.

There are many kinds of beliefs which may involve Christianity, Buddhism, Islam's, Hinduism and many more. One thing that most religions have in common is they all have a god. As we all know god hasn't been scientifically proven, but yet so many people believe in him. Our society is given rules. Were not completely free to do whatever we want. There has to be a limit to people and their actions. We can't let people run around killing each other. I think we have a choice to be good and bad. This leads us to believing there is a god. So we have a reason to be good. God is a good example. Something, or someone to look forward to give reason to do well in life. If people don't have that belief I think there would be a lot of chaos. There would be no purpose in life in one's personal view.

For example, the reason I believe in god is that it gives me a peace of mind. I mean if I don't believe in the good then that leaves me in a negative state of mind. I like to think that married couples respect their spouse. That not all husband and wives are not cheating on each other. That people generally have a good heart. All these things are not necessarily true, but I like to think it. I like to think positive about rules and responsibility because if I don't then I personally think I would go crazy. I don't find killing, doing drugs ok, but I like to think people make mistakes. I also like to think I have a soul. That gives me as a person worthy of living. I think of it as a gift from god. Making the best of what I have and turning it into something important to me personally. That there's a reason good we were set on this earth. All this is what I believe in. But yet I have doubt in a god. I believe in science too. There are days that I don't believe in god and I think to myself that science is a good explanation, but then again nothing is proven!

Wouldn't you want to have a reason to be good? God falls under the supernatural category. Whether we believe it or not, we haven't proven that god is real. We believe that god is a greater force than anything in the world. This is hard to explain. There are many people think that god should be taught in our schools, because if you think about it, it isn't bad to be given something positive to believe in. But then again we all don't think the same.

Their trying to prove that god has nothing to do about and that we should believe in science. For example Gregory Mendal made series of experiments the main one he is known for is experimenting on the peas. How these peas evolved. All this give the doubt of god in how he may not even exist Charles Darwin believe in how we evolved. This opens the topic of Evolution. Another belief of how god may not even exist. This hasn't been proven but gives the doubt of mind. There's also a belief how our spirit are a ball of energy and how we have mind power. This is all scientifically thought.

Point being in all of this that humans believe in what cannot be proven because for some give them peace. Even though they have series of information laid out in front of them how what they believe in may be even true. They block it all out of their minds to continue believing in what they want. Whether it is right or it is wrong. It self fulfillment. People believe in what they want. Could be many reasons as to why they believe in.

Solve The Case

As the technology rises in our present day, people's minds are beginning to change. People's minds have evolved into a higher state then it once was. Back when we weren't so easily manipulated by our surroundings. Personally, I wasn't raised to envision outside the box. In my mother's opinion she did not think that I needed to know more than I should. I also believe that I was not taught to problem solve in this form because we live in a small town. However, things have changed and it seems that kids today are in need to be more alert and more informed. In other words, the sooner children are taught reasoning skills the sooner they
will be ready for the their outside world.

One of the many reasons children should be taught these skills is simply for logical reasons. How to approach a problem and finding the solution to the problem, in more than just one form. Lately we have been living in a world where kids are being introduced to a variety of information that they may not be able to deal with. The sooner they are taught the critical thinking process the faster they can manage their situations. By teaching them these skills they may be able to handle a variety of things such as test taking strategies, and/or learning abilities. Which will most definitely prepare them for their near future. These skills will be able help handle questions like the ones Sherlock Homes has. There are ways to teach elementary students in books of art or poems, like the books of "Nate the Great" and "Private Eyes Club".

By enhancing kids in reasoning skills they can develop a higher learning ability, which can then lead them to a successful future. Research's show that we generally lack in teaching critical thinking to our students. We do not put forth the effort in going through these thinking skills thoroughly. Instead, we immediately jump to the basics of what the students need to know, like the alphabet and numbers. Not helping them think in a much more detailed form that enhances their mathematical and science skills. I read a quote that well-grounded the right words to explain our teachings, "We should be teaching students how to think. Instead we are teaching them what to think" by Clement and Lochhead. This quote has very good reasoning to it and alot of truth behind it.

High school students are also found to be incompetent of certain subjects in school because of their lack of thinking skills. Studies have shown that seventeen year old students can not write a persuasive essay, or figure out basic step by step mathematical problems.

Having personal experience, I see how the lack of critical thinking has influenced me now. I was strictly taught to do certain things in certain a way. However, I feel that I should have opened my mind sooner to other learning and thinking options, to better my problem solving skills.

Technology Hurts

Main question is, is technology good for our society? I automatically think to myself, well of course. But, that's because I'm so use to it. I find it to be a great necessity in our daily life, our routine, and everywhere. See it as it being needed in our society today. Things aren't always as they seem apparently. I agree that the technology is bad for our society.

Let's start with over all technology is bad for our society. I personally love to exercise, but I can't find the time, or simply because I'm lazy. We live in a society that we need cars for transportation or that what we want to think. If we go back in time where we didn't use cars as much, and walk place-to-place. Obviously you become healthier. It would be a great deal of difference. Think about it. Walking relieves stress, helps have a good keep your heart healthy, and not only that were helping the environment around us. In the way that cars aren't releasing pollution in the air. This leads to a problem now with global warming.

Not only is technology affecting adults, but children too. Children in society today are not as active as they use to be. They find "Hannah Montana" to be more amusing than the beautiful flowers outside. Young boys starting to watch the violence on television, or listen to it in music lyrics. That has a great influence on our society in the long-run. Studies show that those who watch violence are violent. Your kid could be the next possible serial killer? Not only that, children are glued to their video games that discourage them from being active. This leads to obesity. That affects them also in the long-run. Doesn't everyone want to live longer?

Another thought on how technology is affecting our society is big using the cell phones and the internet. Popular in young teens like myself. This affects us in the way that it is "dumbing us down." We decrease talking face-to-face which it can develop problems socially. Texting can be a great influence by causing accidents on the high way. By using the internet we may be inviting a dangers stranger.

So basically I don't think technology I think its doing the exact opposite. Yet, I couldn't find myself living without it! So, what do you do when you can't reduce what harming you mentally and physically. Just like global warming, were hurting our environment, but yet we can't stop doing things that are making it worse.

Fellow Coffee Drinkers!

So up until now I've hated coffed. The fact that turns your teeth yellow, and not only that tastes and smells discusting. WEll, Tuesday of this week I couldn't stay awake in class. So, I was ging to buy an energy to stay awake in class. So I was ging to buy an energy drink but i remember my brother telling me " their bad for you" not only that I drink energy drinks every time I'm tired. I'm going to blow up like a balloon! So I bought my first cup of coffe. It was black! I had no clue to make it! whatever. Idrank it I decided not to give up on coffee. I thought it was stupidly funny the fact that I had no idea how to make something as simple like coffee. But with practice and more coffe making, I'll be a semi pro coffe maker. Like I hope to get fairly better at my blogging.

Thanks!
